Overwhelm

I have been suffering from ‘overwhelm’ for the last few weeks. Just so much happening and feeling tired, no energy and no joy. This week I was going to attempt to simplify my life. We have been studying this in our Bible Study the last few weeks. It is an older group of ladies, and most of them say their life is simple. They don’t seem concerned about the things about which I am concerned. They have time during their days for sitting for an afternoon and reading, something that seems out of reach for me. This week is an example of how life is for me – an appointment on Monday, Bible study and grocery shopping Tuesday, housework Wednesday and an evening church service, Women’s Fellowship and lunch out Thursday followed by an afternoon appointment, car in for wheel alignment Friday meaning an early start to the day. By the time I have fitted in gym and a daily walk, plus whatever needs doing around the house, I am exhausted. I look at my diary and wonder what I can leave out. It al...

Liberal Christianity

Liberal Christianity is a bit of an oxymoron I think. It is about believing what you want to believe regardless of what scripture says, it is about rationalizing scripture to meet your own beliefs and actions, it is about doing whatever seems good to you and fits your own selfish desires. Therefore, it cannot be called Christianity. Do we really believe homosexuality and transgender ideology is scriptural? Do we really believe that God has no problem with abortion or euthanasia? If all these things are fine, then why did Jesus bother going through the agony of dying on the cross? What is sin? Sin is very clearly defined in Scripture if it is read with integrity, humility and honesty. We all sin – every day. But when we refuse to admit we are sinning because it doesn’t fit the actions we take or the way we want to live our ...

A worldly perspective

So much has happened over the last week! America started bombing Iran, Iran started bombing Israel and other surrounding countries. We are told petrol prices will go up in an already difficult economy, and goods may not be able to get through. Electricity prices are about to go up. Two days ago, my grocery bill was around thirty dollars more than my budget. Then I received a call to say my dear friend with cancer had passed away. I was so glad I had suddenly decided to pop in and see her that morning. We had already said our goodbyes, but it enabled me to pray over her and her family and wish her God-speed. We also received a quote for work on our roof, and it was a lot! Life is hectic, and I am frequently tired and feeling stressed. I wished I could have avoided this week altogether. However, my God is so faithful. None of these events have surprised Him. He is already working in and through them. I love Psalms 139 where it tells us that we cannot go anywhere that will take ...
